ROOTED: PLANTS IN PLACE

Rooted explores how plants — grounded in their own environments — connect us to the land, anchoring, sustaining, and reminding us of our shared place in the natural world.

​

Conceived and organized by Saylor and Woodin, longtime colleagues through the American Society of Botanical Artists, the exhibition brings together two distinct bodies of work alongside invited contributions from Susan Mintun and Judy Simon. Work across graphite and watercolor on vellum, egg tempera on panel, and works on paper.

THE WAY OF THE FORAGER (formerly FORAGE)

Documentary by Nevin Martell, in production, release anticipated 2027. Featured for the connection between foraging, field observation, and botanical art.

THE ART OF NATURE

Delaware Center for Horticulture, Wilmington, DE — July 8–October 3, 2026. The exhibition featured selected original works by invited regional artists depicting flowers, trees, plants and fungi created by Contemporary Botanical Artists. These paintings are both botanically accurate and visually extraordinary. Many of the artists have been exhibiting for over 25 years at the Philadelphia Flower Show, numerous galleries and have completed a variety of commissioned projects. Artists include Diana Heitzman, Joan Frain, Carol Aston-Hergenhan, Debby Dion, Lynne Haggerty, Judy Simon, Alice Waters, Tom Lessik, Allison Finch, Linda Gist, John Gist, Susan Mintun, and Margaret Saylor.

OAK SPRING GARDEN FOUNDATION RESIDENCY

Upperville, VA — Spring 2025. Three weeks working from the foundation's historic gardens and rare botanical library, creating new work from site-specific plant specimens.
